Aluminium 7050  alloy plate is an aerospace grade of aluminium combining high strength, stress corrosion cracking resistance and toughness. It is particularly suited for heavy plate applications (3″ to 6″ thick) due to it’s lower quench sensitivity and retention of strength in thicker sections. Aluminium 7050 therefore is the premium choice aerospace aluminium for applications such as fuselage frames, bulkheads and wing skins.

According to the characteristics of the thick pre-stretched aluminum alloy plate, a new method of measuring the residual stresses in thick plate is deduced by the elastic mechanical theory. The residual stresses distribution along the thick direction of plate 7050T7451 is measured by the new method, and the results of measurement are analyzed.
7050 Aluminium Alloy possesses strong mechanical strength and is particularly suited for heavy plate applications. Available in both T7651 and T7451 tempers, the alloy has good stress corrosion cracking resistance and toughness.
